[MP3] yellow shoots – magic on my pillow

We just got up on this new Brooklyn-based by way of Philly artist, yellow shoots recently and enthusiastically supported his last single, “desert rose.” We are loving his throwback blend of pop, rock, funk and soul here at the Kitchen. When people (erroneously) complain that there’s no ‘real’ or ‘good’ music being made any more, they are conveniently ignoring the existence of artists like this. Just hit play and thank me later for introducing you to your new favorite artist.

[MP3 Premiere] Shan Vincent de Paul – Stand By Me

The Kitchen is psyched to premiere another amazing song by one of our (near) hometown artists, Shan Vincent de Paul.

Some of you who are all about discovering great new music may already be familiar with him from singles off his two previous albums like “The Sacred”, “Light” or “B*tch Go”, that third track which we featured here on the site in November of last year.

We actually have even more history with this Sri Lankan-Canadian, Brampton-based artist because, as part of my day hustle at CBC Music, I had a large hand in booking the excellent First Play Live session he did for them for the release of his second album, the 2017 Trigger Happy Heartbreak earlier this year.

“Stand By Me” is de Paul’s latest single and it is set for official release TOMORROW (June 22).

Dig “Stand By Me”? Pre-save it on Spotify HERE. (note: that link will turn into the smart url to access the single on any of your favorite streaming sites upon the release tomorrow, Friday).

[MP3 Premiere] Adriiana – Stay Good

Always great when we can champion talent from our own backyard. Today the Kitchen is proud to premiere the latest single from Toronto singer, Adriiana, an artist signed to Tommy Boy records, a label I happen to have a deep history of my own with too. Here’s more on Adriiana:

Adriiana has teamed up with production duo SMiTHMUSiX to deliver a bright, melodic Pop smash. Over vibrant plucks and some slick drum programming, she delivers a sultry, attitude filled performance speaking directly to everyone trying to hold her back. Ready to carve her own path, Adriiana seems adamant about being exactly who she wants to be with no second thoughts or regrets. Via accessible lyrics she lets listeners know… If she wants to, “sleep all day and party all night”, there is no one that can stop her. She is here to live her best life.

Can`t disagree with that attitude! Y’all dig “Stay Good”? Is this a contender for a summer 2018 anthem or even Song of the Summer?? Let us know in the comment section or on social media.

[Exclusive Different Kitchen Premiere] Audego – Glaciers (Album)

Long-time readers know we are super fans of Australian electronic soul duo, Audego here at The Kitchen. Aroly Tariq‘s plaintive, emotion-filled vocals over Pasobionic‘s edgy & dark but funky beats have made for some amazing music to date.

We’ve told the story multiple times about first discovering their music while screening submissions for NXNE and subsequently corralling them into sharing a track for our 11th anniversary This One Goes To Eleven… compilation back in 2014. That track “Gone” ended up becoming the hit of the comp and, lo and behold, two years here it is as part of Audego’s latest album, Glaciers which we have an exclusive preview listening copy of right here on the Kitchen.

As described by Audego vocalist, Aroly: “Glaciers is a culmination of our experiences in the last two years that we haven’t been able to process through conversation. We aren’t talkative people, so dropping “Glaciers” is our way of breaking the ice between us and everybody else.”

Glaciers has 4 unreleased tracks and will feature all the scattered singles Audego have dropped through the past 2 years.
