MP3: DJ Khaled featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, T-Pain & Plies – Welcome To My Hood by Hypetrak
WTF??!? “I’m So Hood” remade?? From Miss Info’s site where I got the heads up on this”
“the irony..welcome to my hood: with the 3 least credible “hood” rappers of the moment?the drug lord who’s not really a drug lord.the college educated goon with less heart than jamie foxx. The blood that got “trapped” in his SUV out in cali wit his daddy. The Arab that drops the N-Bomb and the singer who doesn’t really sing…nice” [sic]
I think that kind of says it all, no? I’m so bored….

Part 2:
“It’s said that the eyes are windows to the soul and our faces merely mask what we truly feel. The eyes hold our pain, fear, and our joy. Our eyes are our cameras and the keys to what we perceive and dare to remember. Do you dare to take a look thru Mickey Factz eyes? Do you dare to alter your perception of the world you “see”? ….Black Tearz…The story continues…”

Part 3:
“Tearz are innocent beings that trust the eyes in their lives to protect them from a world that they are struggling to understand. How can tearz know the difference between joy & pain?”

I hope at some point Mickey puts all the parts together as a single track!

Put Ya Lighters Up ‘4 Haiti’:
“One year after the devastating tragedy that struck the country of Haiti, sadly not much has changed. Thousands are still displaced, living in tents and many still struggle day to day just for basic necessities. Last year, the Hip-Hop community stepped up tremendously organizing fundraisers all over the country, but this year it seems we’ve moved on. I decided to record the song “4Haiti” to to raise awareness and as a reminder that so many are still suffering and in great need of our help. “4Haiti” was produced by Drum Gang Productions and all proceeds collected from the song will go towards purchasing a Mobile Max Pure solar generator that purifies water for our family in Haiti.”
This record is fanatstic, check it (and the riveting video above….)
LYRICS
Put ya lighters up Put ya lighters up
now put ya money down they need the midis touch
This is war lace my gloves let the fighters touch
Haitians are dying plus they’re fate lies with us
Put ya lighters up Put ya lighters up
now put ya money down they need the midis touch
This is war lace my gloves let the fighters touch
Haitians are dying plus they’re fate lies with us
After the quake hit we donated
with no patience to see if the dough made it
then the days went and the saints win
reporters that came went so no more statements
Or pages and the funds raised went
to the same pimps so nobody was paid shit
and then it started raining
attention we stopped paying so who was gonna save em
Then Wyclf went
and announced that he was running for president
so Haiti took precedent
but his charity was accused of negligence
Sean Penn lectured him said he wasn’t present when
people needed betterment
and Pras questioned him
and his experience if the people elected him
said they needed veterans
so many pressured him
poor Clef even his family they threaten them
then we found out cause he wasn’t a resident
that the country he loved he couldn’t represent
I guess the lesson is that politics is more gangster than the record biz
hell yes it is
and since Clef is out, then the press is out
but the people are still left without
with a less amount while the rest accounts
for overhead costs crucified on a red cross
and now a year later and the fears greater
they need so much more than just to hear prayers
Haiti needs sincere care
not showing up with a camera to show that we’re there
cause they raised billions but didn’t raise building
and the soldiers they aint stop the killings
they was guarding banks inside armored tanks
while mothers and fathers sank it makes my heat just break
see these forces are that cold
they want their resources the black gold
while we kept are distance through the epidemic
I got an idea let’s prevent it
how much could we change if we all represented
with the best intentions while the rest lamented
if you got jokes put the mic down
a voice with no value makes Cipher Sounds
“A vioce with no value makes cipher sounds…” – ouch!

To be fair, contrary to Jasiri‘s lyrics in the song about “reporters that came went so no more statements…”, my hometown paper, The Toronto Star has been running prominent (often front page) updates and features on conditions in Haiti , focusing on the personal story of a young girl named Lovely, regularly since the earthquake disaster struck. They’ve had at least two correspondents on the ground down there filing the reports this entire year. I might sound perverse in saying this but, if anything, they’ve almost covered the story too much as each feature has usually been two to three full pages long. It’s a lot to take in, especially when the outlook is so dire in many ways but they’ve managed to not always wallow in that mindset and cast their stories in a more hopeful, positive light. Anyway, this is a great piece of music that is doing something positive in a world with a lot of hurt, hate and suffering right now so please support the cause.

I actually kind of hate 3-D movies but I also hate to leave an opportunity some of The Kitchen‘s readers might dig on the table:
“The last frame of the trailer above for the new film release, Drive Angry staring Nicholas Cage as a hardened felon who has broken out of hell and is on the hunt to rescue his daughter and one last chance at redemption, gives users the chance to win a trip for two to Las Vegas for a Dodge charger driving experience. Watch the trailer for the Facebook click-through info….”

Speaking of punks jump up…
This record is F-CKING AMAZING!!!! A damn near-PERFECT club remix of the late 70’s punk classic “Pretty Vacant” by the notorious Sex Pistols. I would rate this an 11 except for a semi-suspect guitar solo (so un-punk) at the 3-minute mark but then again, 11+ minute disco re-works of dirty punk rock records aren’t punk either (or are they??) F-ck it though: check this immediately if you dig killer, dance floor music. Despite a slew of great music, just today even, this is my favorite record of the week and probably the month by a MILE……
