Dirty Vegas: remember them? They’re probably still eating off the money they made off that Mitsubishi Eclipse TV commercial featuring their “Days Go By” song from eight years ago!
Anyway, they have a new single with a grip of remixes, from Paul Harris, Runaway (DFA), Eli Escobar (Plant Music), Alex Tepper, DJ Fame, and Cassette Club (Kitsuné), out and, you know what? It ain’t bad. Here’s a few of those remixes plus the original to start things off…

New 18 year old hip-hop artist from Cleveland, Ohio. Him, Zay Bucks, Kj Hamilton – I’m loving this new ‘teen-hop’ movement (no paedo). And not a “Chicken Noddle Soup” gimmick track or novelty dance in sight (not that I ever had a problem with that as long-time readers know….)

Last summer this dude, Unda tha Illest passed me his Soon Is So Far Away CD at one of the Sound Battle Royale events in Toronto. Normally, I don’t expect much when I get given stuff like that, but his music was actually really good: kind of a post-Dilla Donuts-influenced instrumental hip hop type project (with a couple vocal tracks thrown in for good measure).
His newest project, which he just sent me, is kind of fresh-sounding, especially from the production point-of-view. Peep the science then check it out above:
“The project is titled, ‘The Me X Factor’ and is a collaborative album between my brother J.Carter & I, released on Generation Me-X Entertainment. I did 6 tracks, J.Carter did 5, and we did one together. We write, produce, mix, & record our own original music! Give it a listen if you enjoyed ‘Soon Is So Far Away’. This time you can hear my music with my vocals (rapping) & other vocals on them as well.”
