New track from Iceland indie singer Toggi who we’ve supported in the past on The Kitchen:
“It’s not hard for anyone living in Iceland to understand where the inspiration for ‘Let Them Bleed’ came from.
Our super-overextended banking system, run and fuelled by the greed and debt of a handful of billionaires exploded, leaving the Icelandic state with enormous debts for future generations.
Immediately afterwards our government was overthrown following mass street protests. In other words, interesting times, as the Chinese curse would have it.
Here, as in the rest of the world, the greedy banksters that caused this global crash are all still rich, still walking free among us, while normal people are enslaved by their actions. And while the title of the song is not to be taken literally, people around the world are calling out for justice for those who gamble with their futures. The Banksters.”

Handing over power to NATO today, my ass. This war will continue for a good while OR will end very badly for all involved (the rebels, Obama, NATO etc.) if the Allied forces withdraw no-fly zone support prematurely and don’t put boots on the ground. How long ’til that happens, you think?

“The most important three hours for hip-hop in Toronto has always been Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. on CKLN 88.1 FM. It all began back in 1983 with The Fantastic Voyage, the first hip-hop radio shot to exist in Canada. The torch was passed to The Power Move Show, The Real Frequency then Mixtape Massacre, making this timeslot the longest-running source for hip-hop music in the country.
On Saturday, February 12, 2011, a monumental gathering took place when all four generations of radio shows came together for a single broadcast. The impact of this musical institution is captured in the short documentary, “1 to 4”.”
The above blurb really sums it up but let me just add: if you’re from Toronto and love hip-hop you should already know the significance of Saturday afternoons from 1-4pm. If you don’t though, watch this video immediately to get familiar! Props to director, Celine Wong on putting this excellent project together.

Don’t know much about this new producer but thought his remix of a Mos Def track from the Soundbombing 2 album sounded pretty good. Agree?
