[MP3] New Single: D.O. – She Likes You

She Likes You… But She Lovesssss Me!

It’s the new single called “She Likes You” by D.O. from Art of Fresh, produced by Classified. Here’s D.O. on the track:

We shot the video last month and it will be hitting the airwaves later this summer.

I’ll be hitting you with more new music over the coming months as my new album “Heavy In The Game” is coming out in October.

It’s been a crazy last 18 months… Between Art of Fresh and myself we’ve done two tours in Asia (Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan), rocked a US tour (Vegas, Miami, NYC), Canada (Vancity, Toronto, Fernie) and Europe (Rotterdam, London, Cannes). Also rocked 150 shows this year in schools through my Stay Driven program.

[MP3] Premiere: MaG – True Story from MaG & the B-Sides

Here a bandcamp player for the first single, “True Story”, produced by Paul Danjer, off of the RefinedHype.com + Different-Kitchen.com Presents: MaG & the B-Sides project. What is MaG & the B-Sides all about? Besides being the latest project from a long-time favorite MC at The Kitchen, read on, my lieges:

I’ve been toying with the idea of putting out an unreleased project. It finally felt like the right time. Plus, having Refined Hype and Different Kitchen behind the project felt like a good fit. This is a collection of some of my older, unreleased (some unfinished) songs. Some didn’t fit certain projects; some were recorded just because I thought they sounded good. But, I”ll let you make that decision for yourself. For those of you who have never heard of MaG and want to get an idea of how I got to be where I’m at now as an artist, this may be a good starting point. For those who are somewhat familiar, this music should be new to all of you. Some of these joints are a little rough around the edges, but the message has always been the same: dope beats, dope rhymes, and a message to suit.

“True Story” is a Paul Danjer-produced joint. From the same session as the “Check” track with G.O.D. Another one of my favorites. The sample is from Mike Tyson’s Punchout. Crazy. When I wrote this, it was kinda like me talking to myself and telling myself the move down south is justified and needed. Really, a lot of my songs are me talking myself into or out of a situation. Like explaining it so I have a clearer understanding of it. This track is definitely no exception. Last 6-8 bars? I wound up freestyling cause I only wrote half of the third verse.

You dig that? Get the full album July 26.

Also first posted on the Kitchen Facebook page yesterday. THIS IS FIYA!!!!! Official plug below….

The city of Detroit was heavily represented on Dennis Coffey‘s latest album in the form of guest appearances from Mayer Hawthorne, Mick Collins of The Dirtbombs, Rachel Nagy of The Detroit Cobras, and more. An equally vibrant array of Motor City talent from the rich electronic community will be showcased on a forthcoming collection of remixes of tracks from the album. For now, check out a radical re-interpretation from beat head and accomplished drummer Shigeto, whose take on “All Your Goodies Are Gone” infects the track with a skittering bounce somewhere between garage house and Dilla-esque hip-hop. The full remix collection will be available for free download shortly, featuring mixes from Dabrye, Recloose, 14KT, Nick Speed & more.
