“I’m pleased to drop this brand new Best of Biggie for all his fans. On top of that, I’m happy I made the march 9th death anniversary deadline. Long story short, I was working on another Valentine’s tape because the first was so well-received, and then Cabbie said I should really do a March 9th BIG tape. It made sense because it’s been long overdue and the timing. That was it, my RNB tape had to get pushed back. Take an hour and a half and let the funk sit in. Enjoy.”

Shout to all my peoples in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Red Hook, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens and Bed-Stuy. Brooklyn, we still doin’ it!!!

Next Tuesday (Mar. 6) in Toronto: Polaris Prize Record Salon for The Slakadeliqs – The Other Side of Tomorrow

I’ve said it before, The Other Side of Tomorrow is one of my favorite albums so far this year and will definitely be on my year-end best albums list and should be a strong contender for the Polaris Prize this year if the jury could take off their indie rock/singer-songwriter blinkers for five seconds. Hopefully this Record Salon next Tuesday can help with that process:

I think Slakah The Beatchild is kind of a genius and a little bit under-appreciated here in his hometown of Toronto. This Record Salon is hopefully the beginning of the end of that.
