The Heavy in the Game album dropped last week. You can check it out in full via the bandcamp player above. Know the kid personally and am a fan of his solo work and music with Slakah the Beatchild as part of the club-rap duo, The Art of Fresh so check it out and drop a comment with your feedback below.
You can see it the player above but hit the jump for the track list with credits and also the first video from the album, “She Likes You” produced by Classified.
MP3 Download: Lupe Fiasco – Around My Way (Freedom Aint Free)
Read why HERE. I hear Pete but it’s not like he wrote the track to begin with, he sampled Tom Scott‘s “Today.” This incident probably speaks to a bunch of issues around hip hop today but I’ll leave that to the online peanut gallery to get into….
“Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” is apparently from the forthcoming Food & Liquor II album.

Lupe Fiasco responds to Pete’s twitter tirade: MTV RapFix | HipHopDX
New mix by one of the best DJ’s in Toronto:
This is an exploration in gearing down.
Made for the remains of the day.
Après work. Après exams. Après bullshit.
Après. Après. Après.
Amen.

This time it’s the Toronto premiere of the documentary, Sing Your Song on singer/actor/activist, Harry Belafonte. For you young’uns, he’s more than just the voice behind the sample for Lil Wayne and Cory Gunz‘ “Six Foot, Seven Foot.” Read on to learn more:
Via Undercurrents:
Back again with another inspiring film screening at the Toronto Underground Cinema (186 Spadina Ave), Undercurrents is proud to present the Toronto premiere of Harry Belafonte: SING YOUR SONG on Friday, May 25, at 8:30 PM. This is more than just the story of a man who made a living singing Day-O. This film takes a brief look at the Civil Rights Movement through the eyes of an insider; someone who despite his high profile, wasn’t afraid to spend time in the trenches.
About The Film
Susanne Rostock’s inspiring biographical documentary, SING YOUR SONG, surveys the life and times of singer/actor/activist Harry Belafonte. From his rise to fame as a singer, inspired by Paul Robeson, and his experiences touring a segregated country, to his provocative crossover into Hollywood, Belafonte’s groundbreaking career personifies the American civil rights movement and impacted many other social‐justice movements.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance through ticketpicket.com/singyoursong. The first 25 tickets purchased in advance will receive an 11×17 movie poster. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office on the day of the event. If you’re on Facebook, don’t forget to RSVP HERE.
