I was not much of a fan of this kid during his come-up but I won’t front: his album, Finally Famous was pretty good as is this new mixtape which just dropped. The second half of the bonus final track, “Life Should Go On” (the “All I Know” section) featuring Wiz Khalifa (first half of track features Wale) samples Bloc Party‘s “Banquet.” It’s not the best track on there but it’s solid. [Music Video] Skrillex & Damian Marley – Make It Bun Dem

I actually really like this and to be honest, while I respect the Skrillex movement and he puts on a helluva live show, that’s with me not being a huge fan of his recorded music or even Damian Marley‘s acclaimed album with Nas. Makes sense that this works though. At the end of the day, dubstep’s roots (no pun intended) are in dub reggae and so much reggae music is essentially electronic music anyway that the synergies and the room to successfully collaborate between the two worlds are obvious.
