I posted music by this talented young lady before (her Significant Wizdom II: Atypical mixtape album). This new track from her forthcoming Friction project confirms she’s a genuine new talent that everyone needs to be paying attention to. Hip-hop done right!
I posted this song before when it originally dropped (although that streaming link was subsequently taken down for some reason) but I’m posting it again now that the video has been released because I liked the song that much and still do! Then again, I’m glad I wasn’t on set for this video shoot though. Don’t think I could party with these ladies: they go a little too hard for me (or I hope that’s really water and not vodka they’re guzzling!)
Still a pretty balanced ballot for me this year versus last year even with my picking three hip-hop albums versus only one (!) last year.
Here’s a quick look at some of the tracks from my Long List picks:
1. Zaki Ibrahim – Every Opposite
2. Jai Nitai Lotus – Something You Feel
3. KJ – Water
4. SonReal and Rich Kidd – The Closers
5. Metz – METZ
Whatchu think??
Great sunny Sunday afternoon in Toronto, chill out vibes. Unsurprising for those of you who know Ms. Triana from her Flying Lotus collaboration “Tea Leaf Dancers”. Shades of The Beatles‘ “Let It Be” in there, no? Dig this though? BUY Andreya Triana – Song For A Friend on iTunes HERE.
