Recently released track by an indie hip-hop artist whose been a long–time favorite here at the Kitchen. Glad to hear he’s still making good music. This one kind of puts me in the mind of what a track would sound like if a post-2001 Dr. Dre collabed with an early period Kanye West. Here’s J.Nolan on the track:
“We live in a very sexual culture, no one can ever dispute that. Debates about whether it’s good or bad have gone on for years and they’ll continue long after I’m gone. My main objective with ‘Getting It In’ was to share MY perspective about what goes on in relation to prostitutes, strippers, and other forms of adult entertainment. A lot of times as men, especially in Hip-Hop, we have a hard time drawing the line between endearment and disrespect. I wanted to share a particular woman’s story in a critical, yet non-judgmental manner to humanize some of the sexual behavior we’ve grown so accustomed to.”
Always really loved Nas‘s Premo-produced “2nd Childhood” track from the semi-underrated Stillmatic album so not mad at Redman jacking it for his Remixxes mixtape album project. Track is hilarious too in that inimitable Reggie Noble way. Lighters up!
Bonus cut exclusive to the Flume: Deluxe Edition release featuring the ‘Wally Champ’ (aka Ghostface). Not mad at that a;though is this a snippet or juts a really short track?! Needs to be a lot longer if the latter is the case….
New Brenmar track up for freebie download for November. Think EDM (B’more, Trap??) meets the more forward-thinking end of the modern R&B spectrum. Grab it while you can….
Nice soul track with an Oh No remix that gives it a feel that is trawling a line somewhere between vintage throwback, go-go and boom bap which is no easy thing to do from my pov! Nice….
