This is super dope! Peep the science here:
The Golden Pony‘s “Casey Jones” remix marks the 3rd installment of the Brooklyn duo’s “Golden Classics” series. The intention of the series is to give House and Disco makeovers to classic tunes from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
Now that summer is on the Horizon we are getting booked for a lot of afternoon and late night/sunrise gigs. We wanted to make have a smooth track with a sing-along part we could play for when the sun is setting, or coming back up! I think the visual of people at Grateful Dead concerts in the 60’s swaying back and forth for hours on end is very similar to todays deep house crowd, so the track seemed fitting!
We had a lot of fun recording a number of live instruments on this mix including rhythm guitar, saxophone, tambourine and cowbell. We debuted the track late afternoon at the Mytseryland festival in Bethel New York, where The Grateful Dead played the track in 1969! There was a large group singing along, so I think we did our job!
More “future-funk” dancefloor goodness by the young producer phenom out of Toronto, Harrison.

My old-timer readers, remember when hip-hop sounded like this?? Word to Brand Nubian….
This track feels more Fish N Chips than Fish Fry to me. It’s like a britpop, mid-tempo chugger with a little country-bluegrass twang in the mix. Maybe it’s appropriate then that she’s playing a club called The Hoxton tonight (June 11)! That song description makes it sound horrific but it actually ain’t too bad but maybe not what long-time fans (like me!) are looking for from Kelis?? Hopefully we’ll get what made us fall in love with her at the show. CLICK HERE for show details.
New track from the artist formerly known as Graph Nobel, produced by Mssl Cmmnd.
