[MP3] Toro y Moi – Pitch Black Feat. Rome Fortune

In years past, I would have said something provocative like “Toro Y Moi is making better hip-hop music than most actual rappers” about a track like this. Not sure that’s actually the case here but this track is super solid!

Big fan of this T.dot rapper, John River. Surprised he hasn’t generated more buzz in town and beyond than he has so far. Maybe this new track, that sounds super radio friendly to me, might help change things?

Previously on The Kitchen:

– John RiverSeasons of Love (from The Calm mixtape) [MP3]

[MP3] SATE – What Did I Do

SATE - What Did I Do artwork

New track by Toronto blues-rocker, SATE (the artist formerly known as Saidah Baba Talibah). And a bonus, hit the jump for a bonus track, a remix of “Warrior” by fellow T.dot group, Hill & The Sky Heroes.

[MP3] Sven Jensen – Find A Job

artwork Sven Jensen Find A Job

Sven has the music to get you off your feet and busting move. You do not hear these kinds of bleepy bloopy sounds from anywhere like Sven does it. Raw, but not like ahi tuna like some suckers, but raw like you scraped your whole knee off and got on your bike again.

That was the brief PR blurb that accompanied this track in my inbox. I didn’t know what to make of it at first but as it went on it totally sucked me in. If Krautrock/Can/post-rock type vibes are your thing, you might could wanna give this one a chance. If you normally trawl this site looking for the latest Trap 40 and hipster chillwave electronic sounds, you can either step along, nothing for you to see here, or open your ears a little and try to take this in.

[MP3] Astral Skulls – Sexism Sux / Bite My Tongue

artwork Astral Skull Sexism Sux

Really liking the post-punk/no wave-meets-beatbox vibe of this Melbourne, Australia group’s just-released debut double sided 7″ vinyl single on their own Psychic Hysteria Recordings. This one is worth paying attention to. A full length album titled, Contact:Light is due out in October. I suggest you keep an eye out for it.
