Actually don’t know much about this Toronto duo, VLXL (Via Linez and Lyve) but they just released “YYZ” featuring fellow T.dot-er, soul singer Tanika Charles from their Trains, Automobiles & Flights album. soulful boom-bap? Yes, please…

Never been the biggest fan of Gangsta Gibbs although I thought his debut mixtape, Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik was solid and stood the test of time as a modern era, underground street classic (to my ears, at least). But I saw Gibbs perform this past summer at TIME Festival here in Toronto and he destroyed it so I was curious when he started dropping a grip of new music recently. Happily the music has been more than solid! In case you’ve missed the deluge, this will serve as a summary post of the highlights. Leggo….

And speaking of Ty Dolla $ign, this new track “LA” from his 7 track FreeEP drop, Free TC featuring Kendrick Lamar is kind of epic. The rest of the EP (a preview to a full length album of the same name dropping tomorrow??), featuring Future, Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd, Babyface and E-40 ain’t bad either.
