[MP3] Listen to Three Tracks from the Puff Daddy & the Family #MMM Album: Auction / Everyday (Armor) / MMM

This CD cover image released by Bad Boy Entertainment/Epic Records shows “MMM,” the latest release by Puff Daddy. The rapper is planning to "MMM" for free on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015. (Annie Leibovitz, Bad Boy Entertainment/Epic Records via AP)

This was a surprise, unannounced drop at the end of last week and it’s actually pretty good (but should be surprised? After all, I did like The Saga Continues… and even Last Train to Paris).

MMM is a concept project about a fictional uptown hustler, named, Money Making Mitch (loosely inspired by Combs’ own hustler father, Melvin Combs, I wonder??) that kind of sounds like an NY take on how I imagine Dr. Dre’s mythical, long delayed, now-shelved hit-man concept album Detox might’ve be been formatted. Guess, we’ll never know now though, huh?

The album, with cover art photography by legendary photographer, Annie Leibovitz, features a nice mix of the old and new school: The Lox (a welcome return), Lil Kim, Pusha T, Future, Big Sean, French Montana, Travis Scott, Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign and uptown DJ legend, Brucie B. Apparently this free album drop is a prelude to an album titled, No Way Out 2, a follow-up to his classic, post-death of Biggie, multi-platinum selling, debut album of the same name. Will it be as well-received as that album was twenty (gulp!) years ago??! We’ll see….

[MP3 + Music Video] Missy Elliott Feat. Pharrell Williams – WTF (Where They From)

Missy-Elliott-WTF-Where-They-From-2015-2480x2480[1]

Missy Elliott is currently CRUSHING the internet with this new song and great video featuring long-time collaborator, Pharrell Williams. Who wouldn’t love this??! Vintage Missy and pure hip-hop in the truest sense of the term.

[MP3] Erykah Badu – Phone Down

Ms. Badu KILLED Drake‘s “Hot Line Bling” a while back. Apparently, she’s been inspired by Aubs as of late because this great new track has a very Drake feel to it too (and maybe a little Dej Loaf??), no? Or is it just me that feel that way?

[MP3] Tanika Charles – Soul Run

 Soul Run by Tanika Charles

Long time readers know I’ve been a fan of ‘Mz Chawls‘ forever, since I came across her epic track, “Think of You.” This new song, from her forthcoming new album, due early next year is a fantastic mix of old and new. A 60s soul stomper power by a classic hip-hop drum break. Love this track!
