Well that was quick. First single and title track from The Weeknd‘s forthcoming (Nov. 25) 18 track new album, Starboy which was just announced yesterday featuring Daft Punk. From ThisisRnB:
Earlier this month, The Weeknd promised that Starboy would be his “best-sounding” album to date with influences ranging from The Smiths and Bad Brains to Prince.
“I think it’ll be the best-sounding album I’ve ever done,” he told VMAN. “It’s hard to label the sound because, when I first came out, nobody would label it R&B. I just want to keep pushing the envelope without it feeling forced.”
Abel is not playing!
Bummed I had to miss Anderson .Paak‘s appearance at Manifesto Festival last week for my cousin’s birthday (family first and his party was fantastic) but loving this new track featuring him. This is a new joint from his NxWorries collab project with Knxwledge, “Lyk Dis.” You may be familiar with their track, “Suede” which dropped around the time Paak was about to blow up from his cameos on Dr. Dre‘s Compton album but well before his own superlative, solo release, Malibu which is vying for album of the year status in my books with Rihanna‘s ANTI album right now. BTW: His appearance on Colbert with Mac Miller last week was pretty cool too.
The new A Tribe Called Red album, We Are The Halluci Nation just dropped and it’s pretty damn good. A huge step forward from their previous releases which I always felt were a tad overrated tbh. Here goes a video for the title track featuring John Trudell & Northern Voice.

Wiz Khalifa smartly jacks the trendy John Carpenter-inspired theme music from buzz Netflix show, Stranger Things for a track of the same name featuring J.R. Donato (who.he??). It’s actually pretty decent too.
