When Jhene Aiko‘s last album, Trip dropped, we found it a little too samey and sleepy sounding but now that this song from it, which we really dig, has dropped as a single, maybe we might be open to appreciating it a little more now. Should we go back and give the rest of the album another chance?

Super dope (kind of) ‘cover’ of Prince‘s iconic “When Doves Cry” by Joey Badass. Really excited for were Joey is trying to do musically. He is confounding even my expectations of what he could do and certainly those of hip-hop conservatives and classicists out there for whom his early 90’s-inspired throwback music was a wet dream.
