New Belly with YG!
“Produced by L.A. powerhouse DJ Mustard, “4 Days” sees BELLY adopt a sizzling West Coast swag. He pops off with scorching bars and locks into a lyrical crossfire with multiplatinum 21st century Cali king YG. Together, they turn up with the kind of heat that classic collabs are made of, bringing together “The 6” and South Central like never before.
Additionally, the music video taps into throwback energy and style from the golden age of MTV in the early 2000s with foreign cars, models, fur, and a whole lot of bling.
It’s an early look at what’s to come from BELLY’s forthcoming new project, Midnight Zone, due out later this year. “Man Listen,” [hit the jump] previously released via XO/Roc Nation/Republic last year will also be on the album.”
Catchy pop music or casual misogyny dressed up with some pretty, singalong hooks?
This is incredible. For those of you who think house music is just more generic dance music made by white European kids on laptops in their bedroom for consumption on Soundcoud and in clubs full of other kids hopped up on molly, dig a little deeper and you’ll learn that Larry Heard was one of the pioneers and early architects of the genre who infused this primarily dance floor-focused music with nuance, pathos and poetry beyond what it took from it’s churchy soul, gospel and disco roots.
Now 30 years on from when he first melted minds and heart with his beautiful take on house music, he is back with a new single, ‘Full Moon’, a track, the opener, from his forthcoming new album, Cerebral Hemispheres, the first album under his Mr. Fingers pseudonym in 25 years due for release on April 13 on Alleviated Records. Based on this corker, he hasn’t lost a step and I for one cannot wait to hear the full album! If you feel the same, you pre-order the album HERE.
Noisey premiered this track a while back. I was blessed to be given an advance preview of the entire Pledge album it comes from which is set to drop on April 13. It’s a good one, trust! New single, “On Me” coming later (?) this week….
