In case you ain’t hear, New York urban radio station, KISS-FM is merging with cross-town rival, WBLS. This is truly mind-blowing news and the end of an era as the long-running rivalry between the two stations finally comes to an end. What a fitting way to memorialize this news than by posting the final mixes by the legendary Kool DJ Red Alert who has been on the station mixing since 1983. Ego Trip has the science:
After dropping a mix of hip-hop classics and original school breaks, an emotional Red thanked everyone at the station with whom he worked over the years, and bid his listeners a tearful farewell. Ironically enough, the last song of his last mix for the station was Jimmy Castor Bunch’s “It’s Just Begun.”
