Tough night: Ivana and Zaki have an overlapping audience and are playing not only the same night but at basically the same time. What can a man do except complain? If you’re wondering what Twin Danger is though, that’s a new NY-based jazz project by Stuart Matthewman, sax player for Sade and co-founder of mid-90’s neo-soul/trip hop act, Sweetback, with singer, Vanessa Bley. Don’t that “Pointless Satisfaction” track kind of sound like something that might have been on one of the first two Sade albums? (or maybe Everthing But the Girl…..)

Fresh off her Polaris short list nomination, where as a Grand Jury member I was rooting for her to win (to no avail unfortunately, Zaki Ibrahim takes the shine from that accolade to bring her live show to the people with friend of the Kitchen, underground soul phenom (and an award winner in his own right), Brendan Philip opening.
