Nice example of grime MCs, one being Toronto’s Tre Mission, battling. Check this for something kind of different from the norm.

New single from an up–and-coming West (‘Fresh’) coaster, ICON in collaboration with Montreal-based producer Ruffsound. Sent to me by his manager with a note saying, “As sure as your site indicates an appreciation for a broad spectrum of music that includes Dave Brubeck to Pac Div, I’m quite confident you’ll appreciate my artist.” His instincts served him well, I do kind of dig this. Do you?? Video coming soon apparently….
Video, by Sixteen Pads Films, for a track from Montreal rapper, Jai Nitai LoTus‘s Something You Feel album which I’ve been digging recently.
If you knew this kid back in the day when he was still an up-and-coming journalist, you’d probably be just as shocked as I am that he’s now refashioned himself into a downtown, hipster-style rapper! He’s been plying his trade with this hipster-esque, electro-rap from well before it became trendy and now that music and general (and my) tastes have moved more in this direction, the timing seems perfect for him to have released this new project.

More Toronto #LateSundaynightvibes. If the name sounds familiar it’s because she was the featured artist on the “Pangcake Mix (Love Guru)” track by Spek Won I posted the other day – nice….
