[Album Stream] Listen to Jai Nitai LoTus – Something You Feel in FULL

Surprise discovery while surfing Ty’s site yesterday. Definitely digging this. It’s that rare breed of album: the ‘alternative’ hip-hop record that actually still knocks like a hip-hop record should (remember those days??). Dude, who produced his entire album himself except for track 6, “Simbreaker” produced by Simahlak, is from Montreal but might live in the T.dot now, I think. The above is just the single from the album featuring Georgia Anne Muldrow and hubby, Dudley Perkins (aka Declaime). Hit the jump to stream the full album via bandcamp or if you need more convincing than just hearing that one track and my word saying, “Play the full album, it’s DOPE!”, read on…

Something You Feel is a musical journey of truth, inner dualities about love, music, loss and gain. Jai Nitai Lotus draws on samples, dark synthesized pieces, and off-kilter drums with meaningful lyrics to create new, soulful soundscapes that are distinctly his own. The LP features guests Georgia Anne Muldrow, Declaime (Dudley Perkins), as well as Montreal artists such as: The Narcicyst, Karma Atchykah, Simahlak, L.E.S., CeasRock, and Sarah Linhares. Jai held down the role of emcee, recording engineer and producer on Something You Feel, except for one track produced by Simahlak.

[New Artist] Introducing… Ivanunknown – So Close So Far (Middlefield) (MP3)

As my homegirl at the 546inthemorning tumblr put it: “Sublime and sexy electronic soul from Toronto.”

This is recommended if you dig The Weeknd (or is it a yet another Abel knockoff as some have called fellow electronic-soul artist, Talwst?)

[Music Video] Grimace Love – Autumn Day

Produced by T Dot super producer, Rich Kidd, “Autumn Day” is Grimace Love’s ode to the Fall.  As the seasons, leaves and weather change, Autumn Day is definitely a relatable song and concept for all listeners. Lots of bright, vibrant colours and beautiful fall visuals accompany this melodic monsterpiece [sic]  in the Autumn Day music video directed and edited by Big Sproxx.

Timely!
