Video: G7 Allstars feat. Reema Major – This Christmas

Harmless enough Christmas-themed record by the team behind the “Swaggberry” record. I liked that song as much as the next man but calling themselves the G7 Allstars is a bit rich!

Hockey Coach Greg Walsh Suspended a Year for Opposing Racism!

I mentioned this story when it broke a couple weeks back. I cannot believe the Ontario Minor Hockey Association didn’t do the right thing and rescind his suspension but instead actually lengthened it! What message does this send to people: that it’s OK to have your players utter racial slurs??! Like the Vancouver Sun/National Post puts it, when it comes to racism, hockey is still in the minors. This is a f-cking travesty! #SupportGregWalsh

Man wishes he’d had a coach like Greg Walsh back in 1973. [The Peterborough Examiner]

UPDATE: Hockey coach reinstated after protesting racial slur – social media outrage works! #SupportGregWalsh was tiny but effective. At least the OMHA did the right thing in the end but they never should have made their original decision in the first place. Now what abut an apology??! [Toronto Star]

New Music: Freedom Writers – Wake Up!

This is what music is (or could/should be) all about:

“Freedom Writers is not a group; it is a Movement. Seven of Toronto’s most talented artists have joined forces to create one of Canada’s most creative and dynamic musical endeavors to date. ”

The Freedom Writers are Frankie Payne, Theology 3, Tona, Adam Bomb, Mathematik and Progress with Production & Audio Engineering by Big Sproxx. Freedom Writers is a cool name but they should have called themselves The Group of Seven. They’re Canadian and artists so they’ll get the reference….
