YES!!! The ‘God’ MC that some still regard as the greatest MC to ever touch a mic is coming back to Toronto. Regardless of whether you hold that view or not, Rakim Allah is undoubtedly responsible for some of the greatest music from what many consider hip-hop greatest era, the much mythologized and fabled Golden Age from ’86-’92.

Who says The Kitchen never hooks you up?? This is a good one! Wanna win a chance to see the cult soul singer, Teedra Moses live in Toronto for Canadian Music Week at The Main Ingredient party w/ the usual resident Djs (Mensa, Agile and Sean Sax) in support at Revival?
As I said when this show was announced, she is fan-f-cking-tastic live. The epitome of what soul music is, especially in an era where you hear everything but — ‘electronic’ soul, R&B that sounds like EDM and rappers singing more than singers — actual honest-to-goodness soul music. Trust me when I say, when you hear Teedra go at it live which is, honestly, the best way to experience her, she really makes you believe she lived it. This is grown woman business we talking about here, aight??!

[CONTEST] Win a Copy of the Nas ‘Illmatic XX’ Double Vinyl
Illmatic XX is the 20th anniversary re-release of Nas‘s iconic debut album that collects remixes that have only been released on 12″, demo tracks, unreleased cuts and freestyles from radio shows that have never been officially released before. Is this an essential purchase? Depends on how much of Nas fan you are. I already dropped a grip of money for the gold-plated deluxe edition last year and have all the 12″s (albeit in storage) so I’m not trying to drop more money to buy music I already have again but for you youngun’s this might serve as a nice introduction to an album that many view as the pinnacle of hardcore, underground, East Cost hip-hop creativity & artistry.
