Thanks to Toronto veteran MC, King Reign for lacing us with this gem for the comp. Long been a fan of his and so super stoked that he decided to support us like this. Interview with Reign coming up some time soon where we get into his career a little bit and the story behind “Guilty Party,” one of my favorite hip-hop tracks of all time that I blogged about way back in the day that he just so happened to make! To celebrate 11 years of sharing great music & culture and doing things a little differently than the average music site, long-running music blog, DIFFERENT KITCHEN has announced the forthcoming release of a compilation album titled, THIS ONE GOES TO ELEVEN… (the title a tongue-in-cheek homage to the movie, Spinal Tap) to mark the milestone of their 11th anniversary.

THIS ONE GOES TO ELEVEN… will feature 11 brand new, unreleased tracks by some favorite artists who have been featured on and supported by DIFFERENT KITCHEN over the past eleven years plus two extra cuts which have seen only limited previous release. The release date for the album is 8.11.14.

The first single from the album is “Known P.S.A.” by Toronto’s The Names Are Known, a duo comprised of NaNa, not only an MC but one of Toronto’s top club DJs, and I.JAMES.JONES, featuring a banger of a track produced by Fresh Kils.

Announcing the Release of the ‘This One Goes To Eleven…’ Compilation Album

Well it’s finally here!

If you follow me on twitter, personally or my blog or follow me or the blog on Facebook, you’ve been seeing me drop the #DK11 hashtag all over the place for the past few weeks.

So what’s it been all about?? Well, this month marks the 11th anniversary of this here blog. I missed doing something around the more obvious 10th anniversary last year due to life and work issues but, because we do things different here anyway not just in name but in deed too, we decided to make sure and acknowledge this year’s anniversary.

On August 11, we will be releasing This One Goes to Eleven…, a compilation album featuring eleven brand new, exclusive tracks (plus two bonus tracks that have seen only very limited released) by artists who have been long time favorites here at the blog.

To kick it off we have the promo trailer for the very first single from This One Goes to Eleven…, “Known P.S.A.” by Toronto hip-hop duo, The Names Are Known.
