New track apparently not part of the official, commercial release of his three mixtapes under the name, Trilogy on November 13. Word to The Smiths‘ “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” on the chorus.
Blurb swaggerjacked from CBC Music:
The continuing adventures of Montreal turntablist, Kid Koala have brought us all a healthy dose of the blues. The endlessly creative phenom’s latest album is 12 bit Blues, an homage to the classic E-mu SP-1200 drum machine and sampler that fulfills a childhood dream and the Kid’s creative impulse.
“Even by the way I titled them, they weren’t born as songs, they were experiments,” Kid Koala says over the phone from Montreal. “I wanted to use this iconic hip-hop equipment from when I first got into the music. Back in the late ’80s the SP-1200 was the machine. It was completely out of reach for me financially because I only had a paper route and it was $5,000, so that was never going to happen.
“But y’know, technology has caught up and, by today’s standards, it’s almost completely pointless to make records using this machine! But that was almost the challenge; I wanted to do this future/past blues record and use these hip-hop tools. So, all of these are essentially studies in that and I just numbered them as such. Back in my classical piano days, it’d always be ‘Study #2,’ ‘Study #3’ and you’d learn things along the way.”

Lord knows I’m not a fan of this kid as an MC but these remixes ain’t bad! I’m sure these would be getting even more attention than they are now had Rollie won at the Polaris Prize Gala last night.
