Let’s get this weekend started!
Vocalist par excellence John Grant joins Hercules & Love Affair for their new single ‘I Try To Talk To You’ – taken from the forthcoming album ‘The Feast Of The Broken Heart’ released on the 26th May.
The first vocal collaboration of the new album’s recording sessions, John’s sexy tomcat voice and lyrical ability for translating hardship into elegance lent themselves greatly to the new album.
Andy Butler explains: “I asked John to dig deep with his lyrical contribution. I had no idea he would dig so deep. He tackled the story of becoming HIV positive, and while I mentioned to him that he did not need to go there if he was not comfortable, in that beautifully punky, spirited and courageous way he has about him, he told me that was what the song was going to be about. What came of it is an elegant song featuring John singing and playing his heart out.”
‘I Try To Talk To You’ will be released with remixes on the 9th June.
This is a heater if you dig stuff like Phoenix or Tahiti 80. Check the following blurb for more info on this premiere by iD magazine:
Parachute Youth’s Johnny Castro has moved onwards and upwards and we’re loving his solo sound. Now going by the brilliant, Yeah Boy, he’s been busy making summery pop goodness that’s just waiting to soundtrack your festival fun times. As he gears up to release his Can’t Get Enough EP through Warner’s One More Tune on 5th May, i-D are pleased to present this tasty treat of a remix by Sam Padrul. Raising the funk level to optimum, we’re loving the disco synths on this harmonious pop debut.
ATL-based Black EDM crew, Watch The Duck drops the video for their latest single, “Girlfriend” featuring T.I.! Big tings a g’wan! I’ve liked these kids since they dropped their first official single, “Poppin’ Off In Atlanta.” That video though: watch the duck, indeed, lol!
Here’s the opening track from long-time electronic house duo, Thievery Corporation‘s album, Saudade, their tribute to the Brazilian sound of bossa nova. The album is great. You can listen to it here: DK Facebook | RDIO
If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that we think KJ is that dude! Only discovered this even existed purely by accident by seeing the artwork on his Instagram while scrolling through my feed this am. This is more of his talent, “BSY (SAI)” is a vocal track, “NEW WAVVES” (“the sound of the morning“) an instrumental track. Looking forward to hearing this project, a seeming continuation of his fascination with all things aquatic-related??, in full.
