Championed this young Toronto MC way back in the day when she dropped a BANGER of a track called “Hollywood Fresh.” Here’s a new one from her I spotted on my homegirl, Ms. Move On Up’s twitter.
The Kitchen was a major supporter of Lil Mama back in the day, as other tastemaker sites will attest to, before she became notorious. This is her first new record in a long while (as far as I know) capitalizing on the #sausagemovement. I’d say it was a tad too late and a tad, no pun intended, kitchen sink-ish (as my dude Sledge put it: “[there’s] way too much going on….”) but it was trending on twitter this morning so clearly a lot of poeple still care about her so who am I to say?
Rah Digga‘s commentary on the negative criticism of the more violent aspects of the Baltimore pretests? One thing I can say for sure: Digga is consistently one of the most grimy MCs out and, not to be sexist although this may come across that way, as one of the few woman in the game, veteran or otherwise, that’s a telling statement about where hip-hop is in 2015.

Good to see Premo on a project like this. Reminds me of when he did remixes and production for the likes of Neneh Cherry and Loose Ends back in the day.

How do you be the only rap feature on Kendrick Lamar‘s critically and commercially acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly album and then drop a new track right after that barely scrapes past 15,000 21,000 plays on Soundcloud after a week and change?? Female rappers (not named Nicki Minaj) still get no respect. Like Chief Keef said, “That’s some sh-t I don’t like!” Guest vocal from Toronto’s own Merna (the singer FKA Ayah)
