Introducing New Artist Tosin: the Potion 2 Mixtape

“Music for the Hood & the Suburbs!“??

That’s what the subject line to the email this came in said and I think it might be right on the money!

Knew nothing about dude – the mixtape got sent to me out of the blue. Despite the horribly amateurish artwork, I gave it a shot just ‘cos he sent an easy-to-listen-to bandcamp link (I told y’all SOUNDCLOUD or BANDCAMP is the way to go – those of y’all still sending mediafire and zshare links to my gmail STAY losing!) and was pleasantly surprised when I ended up kind of diggin’ it. I LOVE track #7, “Southern Illinois University Edwardsville” – always gonna respect odes to college life. Gotta rep that ‘Different’ world view – it can’t always be about the ‘hood!

All son has to do now is it upgrade from the sub-‘hood status artwork. C’mon son, you went to college: you gotta know someone who’s handy around photoshop?? Anyway, check it out and tell me what y’all think:

From the The Wudos Band – The Budos Band & Wu-Tang Clan mixtape. What is that you ask??

“The Budos Band is an amazing 10-piece funk band from Staten Island. The Wu-Tang Clan is the best hip-hop group ever. Put em together and you get The Wudos Band, produced by Tekst of The Higher Concept, producer/engingeer for artists such as RZA, Inspectah Deck, Kool G Rap, GZA, Sean Price, Remedy, Trife Diesel, and plenty of other notable artists; brought to you by Shaolin’s own Cloud Kicker Original and Emilio Sparks. This is a mash-up of classic Wu-Tang verses over beats sampling the gritty funk sound of The Budos Band. It is FREE, enjoy.”
