Goapele – Strong As Glass
Goapele – Hey Boy Featuring Snoop Dogg
TOMORROW night underground R&B/Soul chanteuse, Goapele returns to Toronto for her first show here in apparently 8 years so y’all better recognize, ack right and be in the building, aight??! Wanna win one of 2 pair of tickets Embrace has generously offered up to this show? Do the following:
1. Follow me on twitter at @Stellaskid (this is not just a naked ploy to gin up my follower numbers. I need to be able to private message you in the event you win. Can’t message you? I’m on to the next person with the ticket offer)
2. Tweet to @Stellaskid: “Hey @StellasKid: I wanna win tickets to see @Goapele live at @The_Hoxton in Toronto on Dec. 9” (quotes not needed in actual tweet) and I will select two winners at random shortly after the contest ends at 4PM EST on Tuesday (Dec. 9) to be announced via twitter who will each win a pair of tickets to the show.
Don’t want to take a chance on not being able to go of tickets sell out? You can BUY TICKETS HERE.
Get more details on the show HERE. Goapele‘s latest album Strong As Glass is out now. Check out a couple tracks from it above including a single with the Doggfather, Snoop D.O.-double G!
I’m sightly biased here as Tuku is an old friend of mine, but this is pretty good stuff, well worth your time. Soulful, jazzy vocals over bangin’, classic hip hop production from Dr. Dre, Dilla, Madlib, 9th Wonder, Flying Lotus, Kev Brown etc. reinterpolated by the very underrated T.dot beatsmith, Gigz The Unknown Producer. Toronto heads will get this reference point, think a slightly more mature, spiritually-centered version of Shi Wisdom for a very rough sense of what the entire Moonday album sounds like from a vocal point of view.
