[MP3 + Video Trailer PREMIERE] Listen to Three Tracks from The Names Are Known Album

The Names Are Known J(N)AMES-blk album cover art

If you’re a regular visitor here at the Kitchen you might have already checked out the DJ mixed version of the excellent J(N)AMES, the J. Dilla/Detroit hip-hop-inspired full length collab project by local hip-hop producers/DJ/MCs, Deejay Nana and I.James.Jones on our tumblr page. Now the non-mixed version of the album is available so you can check out the songs individually as discrete tracks.

To celebrate this and turn the focus back on J(N)AMES, Nana and James have produced a special short film style video incorporating three tracks from the album, “Another 1ne of Those Nights”, produced by Junia-T; “Close2u”, produced by Royce Birth and; “Get Up”, produced by Blaz. Above is the first ever look at the video anywhere. Check back in April 9 to see the full version of it. In the meantime, here goes the other two tracks from that forthcoming video that have not been featured here on the site before:

And if you haven’t checked out the J(N)AMES album, which features Detroit native, Dank (also known as Dankery Harv of Frank N Dank), D.O. (Guinness Book Of Records/Stay Driven), Juno nominated producer/rapper Rich Kidd and production from Lord Quest (Dom Kennedy, Schoolboy Q, Talib Kweli), Junia T (Smash Brovaz), Dennis Passley (The Pocket Dwellers), Blaz, Eso Tahreek and Royce Birth, you can do so here: Soundcloud (clean version) | Bandcamp

[MP3 + Music Video] Dan-e-o feat. SepTo & Rich Kidd – Get Up On It

Great visual for veteran Toronto rapper, Dan-e-o‘s latest single “Get Up On It” reminiscent (to me, at least) of the Hype Williams-directed video for Busta Rhymes“Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” The track, with able assists from fellow T.dot spitters SepTo and Rich Kidd, is a banger and comes from the album, Inevitable (Dan-e-o’s third) available on Bandcamp & iTunes.

I had to represent for 88 Days….”

More Slakah the Beatchild goodness. For those not knowing: GET CAUGHT UP!

[MP3] The Extremities (Fresh Kils & Uncle Fes) – The Mint Condition Pt. 2 w/ Ali Shaheed Muhammad

Not sure the story behind this one or how Andrew (Fresh Kils) hooked up w/ Ali Shaheed of the iconic A Tribe Called Quest (was it during his most recent trip to the city to spin this past weekend or during Red Bull Thre3Style last Fall, I wonder??)

[MP3] Guzo Lou – Tunnels feat. Junia-T

Guzo Lou - Tunnels Ft. Junia-Tartwork

One of my favorite tracks off the actually pretty solid Old Roads EP by local Toronto producer/songwriter Guzo Lou which dropped recently. Listen to the entire thing HERE. You non-T.dot folk wondering where you’ve seen Junia-T‘s name before? Probably from the Smash Brovaz Think It’s A Game album that dropped last year or from the other tracks I’ve posted on the Kitchen previously featuring him.
