From the Ecology album. This is over ten years old (from 1999 to be exact) but I only heard it for the first time when I just happened to turn on ‘The Real Frequency’ radio show on Flow 93.5 for a hot second last night. FIYA!
One thing I’m bummed about sometimes is the fact that I’m not up on a lot of the hip hop from Toronto that came out while I lived in NYC from ’92-’09!

If you grew up loving hip hop in the 80’s and 90’s in Canada, you know this only too well. Michael Williams was kinda corny but he was all we had as far as an ongoing hip hop presence on TV so respect still due!

It’s unclear whether this trailer from the Michael Rapaport-directed documentary, Beats, Rhymes and Fights about the legendary 90’s hip hop group, A Tribe Called Quest is officially-sanctioned either by the director or Q-tip from the group, but it leaked earlier this week. In honor of that, let me post this track, “Fake ID” by Tip and Cons (half of the latter-day version of Tribe) along with long-time Tribe affiliates, Large Professor and Havoc of Mobb Deep which also leaked this week. I could google it of course but save me the bother, does anyone know the origins of this track??
