[DJ Mix] Capital STEEZ Tribute Mix by Dj Statik Selektah

If you keep up with the underground, you know one of the stories of the year was the ride of Pro Era movement out of Brooklyn led by their crew head, Joey Bada$$. The unfortunate coda to what should have been a triumphant year for these kids was the unexpected suicide of talented crew member, Capital STEEZ just before Christmas. If you weren’t up on this work, DJ Statik Selektah dropped a nice tribute mix to him on his radio show during the holidays which you can listen to right here…

[News] Jordan Davis: the next Trayvon Martin?

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Another Trayvon Martin? In Florida last week, a gun enthusiast killed an unarmed teenager for playing his music too loud….” [Salon]

Here we go again. We haven’t even settled the Trayvon Martin case and another maniac is invoking FL’s asinine ‘Stand Your Ground’ law under very, very dubious circumstances. I am truly getting tired of asking, “When does this end?” Absolute.f-cking.travesty. Michael Dunn is out of his mind and deserves to be jailed for a long, long time. The fact that whether that will happen is in serious question is almost the saddest thing of all. Jordan Davis, R.I.P.

[News] Chris Lighty, CEO of Violator Management Passes Away at 44

This guy was one of my peers. Check his resume (or watch the two videos from the homie, Al Lindstom’s site above), his hip-hop credentials are impeccable. I am absolutely shocked to my core at this news, especially at the rumors as to the cause of death. I simply have no words. R.I.P.
