MP3 Download: Amy Winehouse – Halftime
I know I’m (blog time) late on this but so what??! This is f-cking EPIC though! Amy, you are still missed. The forthcoming Lioness: Hidden Treasures album only makes the loss slightly less hard to take.
From the forthcoming posthumous Lioness: Hidden Treasures album dropping on December 5th. My view? STRAIGHT FIYA!!! “Our Day Will Come” is a great cover of a 1963 track by Ruby & the Romantics. And I swear Nas is sounding very Illmatic-era flow on “Like Smoke”, no??
I’ve seen some carping online that the release of some of this unfinished material is a disservice to Amy‘s memory and legacy, but sub-standard Amy is still better than many singers performing at the peak of their abilities and me personally, I’ll take whatever I can get. Enjoy…

Excellent soul-focused open-format mix incorporating some hip-hop, alternative and breakbeat sounds too. Worth a listen! Here’s DJ Cutler‘s official plug:
“The majority of the tunes here were released over the past couple of years (everything besides Cortex, Dyke and the Blazers, Lovage and Glass House–the Bob & Gene is an old recording that wasn’t released until this year)… While mainstream corporate music seems to be at an all-time creative low it’s great to see so much good music being put out on the independent/underground level. As usual, all vinyl all the time. Volume 2 soon to follow…”

Yes, we are in serious self-promotion mode here at The Kitchen right now…
Join me tonight at the Cloak N Dagger, 394 College Street, as I spin a few old school reggae & ska tunes swiped from my dad’s collection at the 10th anniversary celebration for my long-time friend, DJ Anousheh‘s Move On Up party there. It’s not just me though: other DJs who have guested there over the years will also be on the 1s and 2s tonight so it should be rockin’ and mellow good times.
The jumpoff jumps off at 10PM. Get more details from the Facebook event page HERE. Map for the Cloak after the jump.
