[MP3 + Music Video] Stone Foundation – Beverley

Stone Foundation A Life Unlimited

As a Coventry kid who grew up in the Two Tone era, this one, by UK Midlands mod-soul outfit, Stone Foundation from their new album, A Life Unlimited, which came out last month, really touched my soul. Perfect for a mellow Sunday afternoon.

[MP3] T.I. – Check, Run It

check run it T.I.

I won’t lie: I think “Check, Run It” is cool but I mostly did this post as an excuse to post that “Classic Man” track T.I. did with Jidenna which I missed posting when it dropped. That track is a SMASH! Hit the jump to hear it if you’ve been living under a rock the past few weeks and somehow missed it.

While we’re on the subject of T.I. though, does anyone know what’s good with this afternoon (?) show he’s supposedly doing at Adelaide Hall here in Toronto this Saturday (Sept. 12)?

[MP3] Janet Jackson – Unbreakable

janet-jackson-unbreakable

I’ve been really liking the tracks Janet Jackson has been releasing in advance of her first album (coming 10/2), Unbreakable, in seven years. She’s not trying to be too trendy or youthful. She’s got her own version of the Sade playbook down here, these are grown and sexy records with a little knock to them made the way only she (with an assist from Jam & Lewis?) can. Applaud this woman!

[MP3] Jahkoy – Still in Love

Jahkoy - Still in Love artwork

Track by a Toronto artist mixing R&B and electronic house (and yes, it sounds a little like singing Drake or Majid Jordan) from his forthcoming full length titled Temptations.

[MP3 + Music Video] Listen to Two Tracks from Lo Tide’s Learn to Wait Album

Album Lo Tide - Learn to Wait Label Organik Recordings artwork

Just came in from doing a lap swim work out at my local pool. The weather was perfect and the lifeguards had pretty great taste in music so that’s got me in a sunny, weekend, poolside frame of mind for tune postings now. So why not start with a couple off the third album, Learn to Wait from Australia’s Lo Tide whose tropical sound fit the bill perfectly! The album dropped June 15 on Organik Recordings in the US. Like what you hear? Listen to the whole Learn to Wait album HERE.
