[MP3 + Music Video] Chris Brown – Fine China

I know this is wild old in blog/online time but I just got up on it. Dubious racial imagery and content in the video and song respectively aside, I think record is kind of hot. When I was up at the plantation at 550, after he broke with “Run It” and his debut album, they always talked about how ‘Breezy’ had the talent to make a modern day Thriller. I don’t think he ever came close to doing that despite all the hits he had and he may never fully shake the cloud around his relationship with Rihanna and the fallout since, but this song (and video!) is evidence that, creatively, he may be getting back on track to fulfilling that early, original promise (or hope) of becoming the new Michael Jackson. Or not…

Bonus: check out a remix featuring Common at The Rap-Up HERE.

[Music Video + MP3] Bird – Crazy

Cool music from T.dot-based singer-songwriter-producer, Aaron Bird. Is this soul of the electronic or pop variety, R&B or something else? You be the judge. Not sure the vocals are quite as stellar as they ought to be, after all there’s a lot of contenders in the new school blue-eyed soul field from Ben Stevenson locally and Adam Levine & JT in the mainstream to Daniel Beddingfield, Mike Posner, Ben Westbeech and Colin Munroe who were lighting up the blog world three, four years ago (and indie artists, Alex Boyd, Phil Beaudreaux and Matt Patterson who I’ve featured here at the Kitchen). But this video is a really well done take on the same idea Kanye explored in his “Flashing Lights” video. Dig Bird’s vibe? Check out his “The Whole World Knows” video, also directed by Andre Dupuis, director of the TV show, ‘Departures’HERE.

[Thanks Ty for the heads up….]

[MP3] The Knocks – Modern Hearts feat. St. Lucia

I get a ton of stuff sent to me by 21st century master pop craft-smiths, The Knocks, most of which I never have a chance to listen to, never mind post. But the stuff I have posted in the past has never disappointed and this is no exception. Worth the click to play:

[MP3] Crywolf – The Home We Made Pt. II

Don’t know nathan about this group or song, but if you like this pop/alternative track with lashings of dubsteppy bass on the bridge, you can download it HERE.

[Video] Justin Timberlake – Pusher Love Girl (Live on Jimmy Fallon)

I’ve dug this track since I first saw the video of JT’s debut performance of it at the DirectTV Superbowl party. Can’t get enough? Fluxblog has the mp3.
