I like this kid! Could he be the new Chris Brown? With Breezy still a bit of a mess personally, there’s a lane of a new clean-cut Black R&B teen idol, no? This is nothing new but it is impeccably executed: the songs are more than solid and he sounds great. Like boy bands, there’s always a welcome mat out for the latest incarnation to stake their claim to the throne. Does Jacob Latimore have what it take, you think?

Just leaked last night:
It’s hard enough for a song to create a clamor on the Internet once, but for one song to do it twice? The Flush-produced “Mama Told Me” first made a splash this summer when OutKast’s Big Boi performed the song live with Little Dragon in Austin. However, a later leak featured Destiny Child’s Kelly Rowland on the hook and bridge instead of the Swedish pop darlings—leaving everyone to wonder what the heck happened. Citing “business terms out of our control,” the ’80s funk ditty on Big Boi’s album will feature Rowland when his Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors drops on Tuesday, but it’s Little Dragon who will perform with him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight. Good to see business not getting in the way of friendship and even better to hear the Little Dragon version, which was released by Big Boi today.
One thing that’s remained consistent is the infectious beat supplied by the production team of Jeron Ward, Rick Wallkk and Go Dreamer, aka The Flush. And an ATLien’s stamp of approval doesn’t get anymore official than one from the notary office of Big Boi—especially with a song so nice, he had to release it twice.

This is something slightly off the usual path for the Kitchen. Check out a couple tracks from new artist, Krissy Krissy sent to me by my good friend, Fiona who is working with this Brooklyn-based artist. The tracks are from her Above All EP that dropped in September. I don’t dig the entire EP, some of tracks were a little too down straight down the middle classic Top 40 pop for my taste, but these two just about pass muster so I thought I’d post them here and see what y’all thought. Y’all dig?
Still the King and G.O.A.T. “I Want You Back” is my favorite pop song of all time and how I feel. R.I.P. we still miss you three years later, Michael.
