These are just a few selections from the album which is really f-cking good! CLICK HERE to hear clips from the full album via Rdio. The title and album felt apropos to play yesterday as I learned about the passing of a dear, dear friend of mine after a long fight against cancer. My soul is heavy indeed. Devin, you woulda loved this album. May your soul be finally at rest. I love you and I miss you.
I’ve said it before, The Other Side of Tomorrow is one of my favorite albums so far this year and will definitely be on my year-end best albums list and should be a strong contender for the Polaris Prize this year if the jury could take off their indie rock/singer-songwriter blinkers for five seconds. Hopefully this Record Salon next Tuesday can help with that process:

I think Slakah The Beatchild is kind of a genius and a little bit under-appreciated here in his hometown of Toronto. This Record Salon is hopefully the beginning of the end of that. The Other Side of Tomorrow, as I’ve said before, is a fantastic piece of work. If you haven’t heard it yet, I’m posting it again because it deserves it. Play on and let me know what you think:

This is highly recommended if you dig Prince, Hendrix, Flying Lotus, Dam-Funk etc. In other words, black music that likes to walk on the left-hand side of things, so to speak. Shout to the homie, C. Wade for putting me up on this.
