I’ve been tracking this new OVO-affiliated, T.dot-based singer, Roy Woods as part of my work on the Polaris Music Prize jury but somehow have neglected to post anything by this dude here at The Kitchen. To rectify that oversight, here goes his most recent single, “Gwan Big Up Urself” released at the start of Summer.

In a “One Dance”, “Work”, “Controlla”, Machel Montano world, this should be massive for the rest of the summer. The 2.8 million plays it’s already gotten on Soundcloud suggest my safe prediction is already coming true. His other recently-released song, “How I Feel” might be just as big? [MP3] roger singh kahlon – f o r e v e r (‘forever’)

Long been a support of Roger‘s music and, luckily for him, music as a whole has kind of come around to what he’s been doing now for the past few years now (as I explain HERE). This is his latest single which you can also play on Spotify if that is your preferred music discovery platform of choice (or purchase via iTunes if that is). “f o r e v e r” is from the Future/Love EP which dropped back in February and can be heard in full HERE.

Long time readers know I have a lot of affection for soulful Australian electronic music duo, Audego. So much so that I asked them to be part of my 11th anniversary compilation album project, This One Goes To Eleven…. and they graciously agreed to it and contributed the track, “Gone” which subsequently became the most played track from the comp.

“Gone” will also be on their forthcoming EP (or will it be a full album?), working title, Glaciers that they’ve working on for the better part of the past year or so. It looks like Glaciers (or whatever it ends up being called) is now coming soon because a new single, “Motions” just dropped last week. Those familiar with Audego already know the drill: off-kilter but funky beats by Pasobionic topped by hauntingly beautiful vocals from Aroly Tariq.
