[MP3] Kenna – Gloria (U2 Cover)

We’ve long been fans of Kenna here at the Kitchen. He’s often been compared to U2‘s Bono due to the similarity in their vocal styles. this is a pretty radical reworking of one of U2’s early classics though. Y’all dig?

Also follow Kenna’s Summit on the Summit 2 initiative for which he’s gathered musicians, actors, friends, and educators to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in order to bring awareness to the global clean water crisis.

[MP3] Positive Flow feat. Omar – Do What I Do (Chris Read’s All Night Remix)

Remix of Positive Flow‘s “Do What I Do” featuring Omar (MBE!), a track from their Flow Lines LP (on Tokyo Dawn Recordings). That preview link is taking me back to the UK soul/acid jazz 90s era. Good times….

[MP3] JaVonte – Supernova

Part of the next wave in the R&B renaissance post-Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Miguel etc.? Watch this one. Kid is out the same camp that brough you Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock so odds are good this could really go….

[MP3] Two Tracks from Austin Brown’s Highway 85 Mixtape Vol. 1: Highway to the Sky / Menage A Trois

The crew at Digiwaxx sent me this a while back. Is this kid the next Bruno Mars (or Ne-Yo)? He may already have something poppin’ on radio and I’m late here but if not, I think this kid could be huge. I actually hear shades of Michael Jackson too on some of the tracks but I know better than to be fool enough to even try and anoint anyone the next version of him because that’s a once in multiple generation talent we lost in 2009, basically irreplaceable. Like what you hear between these two tracks though? Then check out the full Austin Brown Highway 85 Mixtape Vol. 1 HERE and tell me if I’m onto something here or totally out of my mind.

[MP3] Slakah The Beatchild – Snow Storm

After spending most of my afternoon shoveling snow from the aftermath of the same storm that inspired Slakah to create this track, it felt only appropriate to post it…

Woke up to a storm yesterday. My goal was to create at least two full instrumentals. I purchased a used Yamaha AN1X a few months ago but never really had the chance to use the sounds in that synth so today I finally got a chance to do it and most of the synth sounds are from the AN1X.
