Track from T.dot MC and Kitchen favorite, Spek Won‘s recently released and excellent album Sofa King Amazing (hurr, hurr!).
New blues-rock heat rock from Toronto’s Saidah Baba Talibah under her new project name, SATE. Saw her tear it up at their debut show a few weeks back at the Dakota Tavern on the Ossington strip in downtown Toronto. She is back there with the rest of SATE for the second in a month long series of residency shows for the month of April this Sunday presented by Howl Growl Moan. CLICK HERE for details.

Here’s an unlikely (?) pairing: Montreal’s Kaytranada with Gary, IN’s Freddie Gibbs. First time I played it, I wasn’t sure but it’s growing on me….
Previously on The Kitchen:
– Listen to Two Recent Tracks by Kaytranada – Drive Me Crazy feat. Vic Mensa / Mick Jenkins – Rain [MP3]
– Freddie Gibbs – Keep It Gangsta (w/ The Worlds Freshest) / Deeper (w/ Madlib) / Bomb (feat. Raekwon)
How do you be the only rap feature on Kendrick Lamar‘s critically and commercially acclaimed To Pimp A Butterfly album and then drop a new track right after that barely scrapes past 15,000 21,000 plays on Soundcloud after a week and change?? Female rappers (not named Nicki Minaj) still get no respect. Like Chief Keef said, “That’s some sh-t I don’t like!” Guest vocal from Toronto’s own Merna (the singer FKA Ayah)
Previously on The Kitchen:
– Listen to Three Tracks by Rapsody [MP3]
– Merna – Better Run [MP3 + Music Video]
I know everyone’s going nuts for Kendrick Lamar‘s To Pimp A Butterfly album and I am no exception but don’t sleep on T.dot MC, Tona Tencreddi‘s latest album Carpe Diem. Inexplicably though he shot a video for the song, “Show Me Some Love” which, despite also featuring T.dot stalwart, Rich Kidd is only a bonus cut on the album and not even available on the Rdio version of the album. *facepalm* No worries though, even without it, the album is great and well worth your time. Missed it? You can listen to it in full HERE or if you’re unbelievably lazy and/or time crunched and don’t have the time to get through the whole thing, here’s a couple more tracks from the album for you to preview here (after the jump):
