Been a while since we’ve done some formal Different Kitchen Premieres around these parts but stay tuned as we have plans to do more moving ahead. First up though is up-and-coming Miami-based DJ/Producer, Emkay who has teamed up with The Kitchen to present his latest remix, a nice electro bass flip of rapper du jour, Fetty Wap‘s “RGF Island.”
Dig the remix? You can download a copy of it HERE.

Not sure what’s going on here? Black Keys gets a song credit but I’d be shocked if this is them actually playing live on this track like on the pioneering Blakroc project, Damon Dash put together as opposed to a looped sample, but I could be wrong. Not really familiar with many (any??) of the featured MCs on this track or the remixer, BigBob (who.he??) but if you dig throwback cipha/posse-style records, this might appeal….
More guitar music??! Two in a row? Is the Kitchen going indie on y’all?? Not at all but long time followers know I’ve been a fan of this San Fran-based duo for a while. They actually have T.dot connections as they are signed to the Toronto-based label, Last Gang Records for Canada. This is from their forthcoming new EP, Cataract dropping July 24th.

Changing it up for a minute: a little indie guitar rock by NYC-based Modern Diet. I don’t post a lot in this lane but something about this track appeals. I think ‘cos there’s kind of a 60s soul element to their sound, maybe? These still in college kids are showing a lot of promise, their whole eponymous album is pretty solid too. Listen to it HERE.
Fetty Wap again??! Can’t avoid this dude now. This sounds like something Diplo had his hand in and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Speaking of which Mad Decent Block Party coming July 31.
