[Video] Decoded: Miguel – The P Is Mine (interview + performance)

I’ve said it before, the Kaleidoscope Dream album by Miguel is being severely underrated despite being one of the best albums of the year IMHO. It’s also being overshadowed by the admittedly deserved hype around Frank Ocean‘s (somewhat similar sounding) Channel Orange album. Well, The Kitchen is going to try and help rectify that situation if we can. Look for a Miguel CD album and Dec. 11 Toronto concert ticket giveaway coming soon courtesy of Sony Music Canada. Until it’s that time though, enjoy this video of Miguel courtey Hova‘s Life + Times lifestyle site.

[New Mixtape] Action Bronson x Alchemist – Rare Chandeliers

Just hit the inbox from Vice‘s Noisey Music:

No matter which way you look at it, it’s a really good time to be a fan of hip hop in New York. It seems like there’s as much great, truly unique music coming out of the New York hip hop scene as there was there was back in the 90s. The fact that a scene of sorts has catalyzed around an intensely talented bearded white dude who used to be a chef is perhaps the coolest thing ever, especially since it’s Action Bronson and he’s signed to our own VICE Records.

We’re beyond psyched to be premiering his newest project, Rare Chandeliers, which he made with the prolific (and equally great) producer the Alchemist. Roc Marciano, Meyhem Lauren, Styles P, Sean Price, and A.G. Da Coroner all guest, but Action wins Best Line Of The Album with, “Flick chives in the soup/ Stick knives where you poop.” At times opulent, at others mining the pulpy grit that Alchemist specializes in, this gets our award for Mixtape Of The Year.

[MP3] Introducing New Artist Krissy Krissy – Suspicious / Your Love

This is something slightly off the usual path for the Kitchen. Check out a couple tracks from new artist, Krissy Krissy sent to me by my good friend, Fiona who is working with this Brooklyn-based artist. The tracks are from her Above All EP that dropped in September. I don’t dig the entire EP, some of tracks were a little too down straight down the middle classic Top 40 pop for my taste, but these two just about pass muster so I thought I’d post them here and see what y’all thought. Y’all dig?

[MP3] Flume – On Top feat. T.Shirt

Long-time Kitchen/COC-affiliate, T.Shirt is going global!

Had the chance to collaborate with the young ill producer FLUME from Australia, on his self-titled debut as it currently sits at #1 on the Australia iTunes Top 100 Albums chart.

Really happy for the kid.

Our joint from the record especially getting a lot of love, with Rolling Stone mentioning it as one of the standout cuts. It’s a shame they call me an “LA rapper” but I’ll take it…

[MP3 + Music Video] Di’zain – Play The Game

Nice UK-style vibes. Good way to wrap the weekend:

Cooking up a perfect storm of bass-heavy soul, crisp beats and lilting late-night melodies, “Play The Game” delivers a seductive introduction to brand new London based artist Di’zain.

The accompanying promo clip (above) is directed by rising fashion photographer Giovanni Martins (who recently shot for Vogue amongst others) and a remix from acclaimed Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth (Frank Ocean, Grimes, Lianne La Havas).

Dig that? Download the track for FREE HERE.
