New Music: Jermaine Dupri – I Herd Um Say

Unlike most bloggers and many in the industry I actually have a lot of respect for Jermaine Dupri even though he has had a tendency to bite whatever’s hot throughout the course of his career. Objectively though, you can’t really argue with the fact that he’s been responsible for a lot of hit music, hip hop, pop and R&B and was in the middle of the last decade possibly the best urban A&R man in the game at the time, by my measure. That being said, this track strikes me as a wack wannabe version of Kanye’s “Power” record (or am I being too harsh?)

Is this the first solo joint this dude ever did?? He’s been like the greatest weed carrier hype-man in hip hop of all time! Can’t quite believe I’m actually watching a video where he’s the featured MC! This is off the new One Shot Willie vol. 2 mixtape featuring cameos by Murs, Ghostface Killa, Gza, Tribe Called Quest, Q-tip, Phife, as well as Large Professor & Rakim! Wow!

New Music: N.O.R.E. – Nutcracker (Remix) feat. Imam Thug, Red Cafe, Bun B & DMX

This is hot to me but this is yet another of these tracks that was supposed to bring NYC back! Flex was dropping bombs on the original and wheelin’ it back like his will alone could make it a hit. The rest of the world shrugged and went back to playing their Waka and Lil Boosie mixtapes. Meanwhile, here’s a pretty good remix of it – check it (note: the video above is for the original version of “Nutcracker”)…

We just posted something on Joell Ortiz. Now here he is featured on a new track from one of the hardest working DJ’s in NYC, DJ Suss-One! Suss-One puts in that work for the streets! This is Thug Banger status!

Video: DJ Woody – Tony Prince In Technicolor

This is kind of cheesy but kind of crazy too. Watch DMC World Champion Battle DJ, DJ Woody cut and scratch not just audio but video images too. A couple of my friends (Chris Landry in NY and Miami’s DJ Tom Laroc) have been doing something like this in the clubs for a while now though so not sure how ‘groundbreaking’ this really is?
