A little late on this one. Truth be told, the blog’s been in slow motion while a new generation of rappers (cf. Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, 21 Savage, Rae Sremmurd etc.) have risen to prominence. Y’all digging the new school?

Great soulful new track by MTL producer, Dr. MaD featuring #DK11 alum and fellow son of Montreal, rapper Jai Nitai Lotus. Check it!
BTW: it’s been a little over two years since Jai shared his great “Pi (Brahma Built)” song and video for the This One Goes To Eleven… album.

Latest single by Long Island Golden Era legends, De La Soul with indie alternative darlings, Little Dragon. Brilliant. Looking forward to hearing their new The Anonymous Nobody album dropping August 26 that it comes from. It’ll be De La’s first album since Grind Date to be released for digital and streaming. Only thing sadder than the fact that the core catalog one of the greatest groups in all, not just hip-hop, music is inaccessible is knowing that the release of this new album means summer is really drawing to a close already!
Previously on The Kitchen:
– [MP3] Listen to a Rare Unreleased 1991 Track by De La Soul – Sho Nuff

I’ve been tracking this new OVO-affiliated, T.dot-based singer, Roy Woods as part of my work on the Polaris Music Prize jury but somehow have neglected to post anything by this dude here at The Kitchen. To rectify that oversight, here goes his most recent single, “Gwan Big Up Urself” released at the start of Summer.
In a “One Dance”, “Work”, “Controlla”, Machel Montano world, this should be massive for the rest of the summer. The 2.8 million plays it’s already gotten on Soundcloud suggest my safe prediction is already coming true. His other recently-released song, “How I Feel” might be just as big? Hit the jump to hear that joint ICYMI….

Long been a support of Roger‘s music and, luckily for him, music as a whole has kind of come around to what he’s been doing now for the past few years now (as I explain HERE). This is his latest single which you can also play on Spotify if that is your preferred music discovery platform of choice (or purchase via iTunes if that is). “f o r e v e r” is from the Future/Love EP which dropped back in February and can be heard in full HERE.
