New single from a Melbourne-based act affiliated with friends of The Kitchen, Audego. Check the science:
“Today” is the new single from PATAPHYSICS, off his forthcoming album Tip Of The Spear. A jam to bump this summer, it’s also a mantra of positive thought coding for anyone who has or is going through a hard time.
Pat is joined by the soulful Kaiit (‘Natural Woman’) and Allysha Joy (3070) who lend their vocal prowess and unique tones to this joint. It’s easy to hear that Pat, who played every instrument on the track, is a Mercury Prize winning songwriter, who has a vast production background from ARIA award winner 360 to Nazeem Hussain’s Legally Brown (SBS).
Pata who?
If you live in Melbourne and see live music there’s a good chance you’ve seen pataphysics on a stage. His freestyle and trumpet stylings have seen him frequently playing or recording with: Billy Davis, A Brother Scratch (3070), So.Crates, The Foreign Brothers, Wolves in the Cellar, Hau Latukefu and a host of other bands. A mainstay in the scene, it is a unique musicality and his commitment to refining a sound which has seen him perform around the country from Laneway Festival to The Sydney Opera House, delivering his powerful live show.
His rhyme style reminds me of ̶B̶a̶n̶k̶s̶y̶ Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja of Massive Attack. Agree?

‘Mr. International’ got another one. Get your weekend started off right!
Before Drake and after Maestro, Kardinal Offishall was the face of Canadian rap. And with his new single, “Winner” he has another… well, winner. Check out the science behind his ‘Celebrity Marauders’ project:
For the past two decades, Kardinal Offishall has become a highly regarded rapper and record producer recognized for spearheading the Canadian hip-hop music scene. Since the late 2000’s he’s claimed the international music stage with features on hit records such as Akon’s “Beautiful”, Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and his own single “Dangerous”, which peaked #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first Canadian rapper to do so.
With his distinctive hip-hop style, musical success and rap respectability he’s since been paving the way for a new wave of Canadian superstars such as Daniel Caesar,Tory Lanez, Jessie Reyez, Allan Rayman, Boi 1da, Jazz Cartier and, most famously, Drake — who’s credited Kardinal for opening the doors for Canadian artists globally.
In 2017 he launched a new creative collective, Celebrity Marauders, a platform for discovering and showcasing a diverse circle of creative talents who will feature on his new EP “Kardinal Presents Celebrity Marauders” set to be released in 2018 through In Our Dreams / EMPIRE and Universal Music in Canada. The lead single “Winner”, co-written and produced by Kardinal, release today features Latin reggaeton superstar Joey Montana (who’s “Picky” single and video enjoys streams and views in the billions), and Toronto newcomer Pree (EMP), with additional production by Yogi and writing by Cris Chil and Andy Clay.
The EP will fuse collaborations with the well known creatives and fresh newcomers joining forces with Kardinal on all facets of the project from the music right down to the album artwork. “Kardinal Presents Celebrity Marauders” will launch as a dual release with Spanish versions to each record capturing Kardinal’s signature international beats. “I’ve always incorporated Caribbean sounds into my music and now, that it’s sonically being celebrated around the world, it’s the best time to fuse it together and incorporate the infectious energy of Latin music as well”.
Full EP due out late Feb. ’18.

Were conflicted about whether to post this new track by Toronto newcomer, Shan Vincent de Paul based on the title/sentiment. Were we right to feel that way or are we acting too fragile here?
We’re pretty big fans of Big K.R.I.T. here at The Kitchen. We think Cadillactica was an underrated, overlooked masterpiece and the It’s Better This Way mixtape he dropped in 2015 was just as fantastic and should have been released as a proper commercial album but we know he was going through it with his label (Def Jam) at the time.
Only been through this new album barely one and half times so far but it sounds good. We look forward to being able to give it the proper attention it deserves….

Haven’t heard form this dude in a minute. We won’t claim to have always been die-hard fans of everything Rollie has done MC-wise in the past, but this is straight, albeit very Southern feeling in vibe. Hit the jump for another track, “Don’t Talk To Me” (produced by FrancisGotHeat) that dropped a couple months back.
