We’ve long been fans of ATL Blacktronica (we’re still trying to figure out what to call their music, besides good) crew, WatchTheDuck. Whatever the appropriate name for it, we think it’s the future of Black Music and apparently, with T.I. and Pharrell co-executive producing their forthcoming just released EP release, The Trojan Horse, they feel just as strongly about it!

Actually don’t know much about this Toronto duo, VLXL (Via Linez and Lyve) but they just released “YYZ” featuring fellow T.dot-er, soul singer Tanika Charles from their Trains, Automobiles & Flights album. soulful boom-bap? Yes, please…
Dig that track? You can listen to the entire album on the Kitchen Tumblr HERE.
Never been the biggest fan of Gangsta Gibbs although I thought his debut mixtape, Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik was solid and stood the test of time as a modern era, underground street classic (to my ears, at least). Happily the music has been more than solid! In case you’ve missed the deluge, this will serve as a summary post of the highlights. Leggo….

More trap-tastic vibes (rhyme content, not beat-wise. Music’s actually kind of soulful tbh courtesy of Toronto’s Boi-1da and Frank Dukes on the production):
