90s West Coast hip-hop stalwart, Warren G sampling interpolating UK band, Madness‘s classic hit, “Our House” for this track from his forthcoming (Aug. 6) Regulate… G Funk Era Part II EP project. Also a quick snippet of Rhythm Controll‘s “My House” (probably by way of Mr. Fingers‘ “Can You Feel It?”) at the top of the song too and can’t forget, R.I.P., the legendary Nate Dogg.
Solid track from this Nashville, TN (yes!) MC with a Micheal Jackson-inspired hook and production by the Grammy nominated Willie B, producer of Kendrick Lamar‘s “Ignorance Is Bliss”, “Rigamortis” and J. Cole‘s “03’ Adolescence” from the 2014 Forest Hills Drive album. Surprised this hasn’t gotten more traction??
The title track was released about 3 weeks ago. Then “Straight Gutta” featuring long-time collaborator, Redman and crew affiliate, Streetlife yesterday. Hip-hop just like your dad used to tell you about! The Meth Lab album: in stores, August 21 on Tommy Boy.
Both tracks are immense. Only came up on that Boogie track from watching this #1Mic video earlier today.
BTW: Vic Mensa is coming to Toronto, live at The Hoxton, August 17.
Sampling Ginuwine‘s “Pony”, no?? I’ve long contended that if “Pony” came out today it would still be a hit. Song sounds as fresh and current today as when it dropped in 1996 almost 20 years ago!
Also, this dude Fetty Wap again??! BTW: check out the DJ Emkay remix of Wap’s “RGF Island” HERE in case you missed the Different Kitchen premiere last week and on my word, I had no idea, Wap was from Jersey. I honestly assumed he was a Southern rapper.
