[MP3] Drake – 0 to 100 / The Catch Up

Drake 0-100 OVO artwork

Speaking of Summerjam, Drake premiered this track, produced by Boi-1da, 40 & Nineteen85, yesterday while there in the middle of a surprise performance during Nicki Minaj‘s set.

Like the just-posted “Kingdom” by Common, “0-100” is another 6-plus minutes jam. It covers a lot of the same ground and is stylistically similar to his The Secret advocating smash, “Started From the Bottom” from last year without being a mere retread: “F-ck being on some chess sh-t/ We go from 0-100 real quick… Oh Lord, know your self, know your worth / My actions speak louder than my words….” Drizzy got another one….

[MP3] Common – Kingdom feat. Vince Staples

Common featuring Vince Staples - Kingdom cover artwork

This would have been a good track to post yesterday, the day I normally post more classic soulful or reggae sounds, if I wasn’t out and about enjoying the amazing weather we had then caught up semi-live tweeting the end of Hot 97’s Summerjam. The chorus on this new Common single has a real gospel/spiritual feel, no? This six minute plus epic is apparently from his forthcoming album, Nobody Smiling. I like it (it kind of reminds me of “The Corner” in style) and to his credit, it doesn’t feel six minutes long which is a good sign.

[MP3] Justin Bieber feat. Migos – Looking For You

Justin Bieber x Migos Looking For You artwork

In which Bieber makes his best fake Chris Brown record and drags Migos in to give him some street cred. I’m not sure how I feel about Migos dropping n-bombs (and ‘b-tch’ references) all over a Justin Bieber record though! Smdh….

Update: in follow-up to my last comment above, I should have known!
