Never been the biggest fan of Waka although I dig “Hard in the Paint” et al. as much as the enxt guy but, real talk, I’m not mad at his take on the newly–married Yeezy‘s “Blood on the Leaves.”
Just as people were celebrating Nicki Minaj‘s return to making street hop with “Chiraq” comes this first official single from her forthcoming album, . It sounds like one of those horrible radio anthems latter era Eminem has gotten in the habit of making mixed with Rihanna (it’s apparently produced by pop producer maestro, Dr. Luke so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised) which is to say, as you can probably deduce, I don’t really dig this too tough.
Two banger tracks from Domingo‘s forthcoming Same Game New Rules album. The first, “The Free” featuring Krs-1, Kool G Rap, Greg Nice (interpolating a line from his verse on Gangstarr‘s 90’s classic “DWYCK”) for the song’s hook and the second, “The Return” featuring Chris Rivers, Bamboo, Krs-1 and R.A. The Rugged Man featuring cuts from the homie, DJ Eclipse.

Y’all remember the Hamilton, ON MC, Emay right? Big fan of this guy, and have posted a lot of stuff by him but still mystified why he’s hasn’t been more embraced by whatever’s left of the backpack hip-hop community or the indie music types that gravitate to the Shad, Cadence Weapon and D-Sisive types rappers and the Rhymesayers/Stones Throw style of alternative hip-hop. This track is one Emay did with electronic duo, Leafhouse for their self-titled EP. More from Emay:
In this song I’m a person that has a peculiar attraction towards blood from a young age. Kind of a metaphor for having inner demons that are pent up for so long that they eventually burst forth by necessity.
