I used to dis Jean Grae a few years back when she was really buzzing because, frankly, I thought the records she was making then were rubbish. No more though! The last two to three years, she has vastly improved as an MC and lyricist to the point where I’m now a fan. This latest track is no exception, she is AMAZING on this track. Just wrecking the mic. No joke. Listen to this and tell me she don’t sound great! Fantastic track, seriously. Ignore this at your peril.

Only just got up on this dude recently but his classic 90’s throwback, NY hip hop sound will probably have some of you old timey, ‘get off my lawn’ hip hop curmudgeon types frothing at the mouth.
Haven’t had a chance to get into this yet. How is it? This the mixtape where Nicki Minaj claims she’s gonna vote for Romney, right? (even though she’s not even registered to vote, loser!)

I was not much of a fan of this kid during his come-up but I won’t front: his album, Finally Famous was pretty good as is this new mixtape which just dropped. The second half of the bonus final track, “Life Should Go On” (the “All I Know” section) featuring Wiz Khalifa (first half of track features Wale) samples Bloc Party‘s “Banquet.” It’s not the best track on there but it’s solid. [BTW: for my T.dot peoples, Bloc Party play two nights at the Danforth Music Hall this coming Monday and Tuesday. CLICK HERE for details]

This guy was one of my peers. Check his resume (or watch the two videos from the homie, Al Lindstom’s site above), his hip-hop credentials are impeccable. I am absolutely shocked to my core at this news, especially at the rumors as to the cause of death. I simply have no words. R.I.P.
